Mercedes-AMG GT4: Fine-Tuning Shaves Another 0.7 Seconds Off the Nordschleife

Damper fine-tuning

The biggest lever this time was the damper setup. Targeted corrections made the car noticeably calmer over the Nordschleife's characteristic bumps and kerbs, without losing responsiveness.

Spring rate slightly revised

The spring rate was also nudged to better match the suspension to the new damper setup.

Ride height adjusted

Ride height was also revised to keep the aero balance more consistent through the fast sections and make the handling more predictable over a full lap.

Differential reworked

The differential received attention too, aiming for cleaner turn-in and better traction on corner exit out of the slower sections.

How the car feels now

Early in the lap the car still shows a touch of understeer — a deliberate trade-off for more stability. From around lap four or five, the balance may shift toward oversteer as tyre pressure drops and the rear rides slightly higher. Whether the wing still provides enough downforce at that point remains to be seen in further runs. In the fast sections, such as Flugplatz, around three tenths were still left on the table — so a 8:39.6 is well within reach.
